Insider tip – Europe Ladder to the centre of Switzerland

The Europe Ladder at Melchsee-Frutt at alt. 2167 m is a highlight for experienced alpine hikers (blue/white markings). The 60 m ladder serves as a shortcut on the path between Melchsee-Frutt and the geographical centre of Switzerland, Älggialp.

The Europe Ladder is divided into two 30-metre sections. Correct safety precautions are essential here. The ladder can be used all year round. Safety equipment must be used. A climbing harness and safety equipment are required. The ladder is designated blue/white. Use of an experienced mountain guide is recommended.
