Illuminated training track for "hungry" cross-country skiers.
The starting point of the night trail is at the Nordic Center. The 2 km long course on the Schanzen grounds near the Sportingpark is illuminated every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 18.00-21.00 and offers a varied training course with the hilly terrain. Since 2018 there has been a loop over the Bänzenrüti, an additional, demanding but varied section, which can also be bypassed. The track is prepared for classic and skating. The Nordic Center next to the track offers changing and showering facilities.
The cross-country skiing equipment can be rented in the sports shops in Engelberg.
The restaurant in the Nordic Center offers a pleasant opportunity to defrost clammy feet.
Parking spaces are available in Engelberg for a fee.
Take the Motorway A2 (Basel-Luzern-Gotthard) to Stans-south. From there follow the main road for 20 km to Engelberg. Engelberg is about 30 minutes from Lucerne. From Zurich you need about 1 h 15 min, and from Bern or Basel approximatly 1 h 45 min.
National and international connections (from Zurich airport connections every half hour with approx. 1h travel time) to Lucerne. Afterwards with the Zentralbahn in 43 minutes through varied landscape and gorges up to Engelberg.
