This tour is suitable for families and combines cycling with being in nature.
Starting from Giswil, we explore the Sarneraa valley with its lakes and cycle along the left shore of Lake Sarnen. Passing Wilen, we soon reach the cantonal capital with its ancient buildings such as the Hexen Tower and Landenberg. After Sarnen, a delightful nature trail leads along the Sarneraa towards Lake Wichel. Here you can experience the diversity of protected nature and see many animals, which is bound to please the children. After Lake Wichel comes a short climb (approx. 150 m of elevation gain) up to Siebeneich. There you branch off to the left into the many paths of the Kernwald forest that separates Cantons Obwalden and Nidwalden. In this forest, signs point out the direction to Lake Gerzen.

The return route leads through the village of Kerns, branches off at the roundabout in the direction of Melchsee Frutt and after about 150 m turns right towards Flüeli Ranft. Before the first ascent, the path branches off to the right again, passing a market garden, and soon afterwards you enjoy a descent through a lovely valley along the Grosse Melchaa back to Sarnen. You cross the motorway in Sarnen through a subway. Some 100 m further on, a bridge crosses the motorway and the route follows this road to the Rütimattli junction. The road offers views of Lake Sarnen and the valley. After the village of Sachseln, the regular road leads back to the starting point in Giswil.
