From Hergiswil an ascent for the sporty. With the Alpgschwänd cableway we save a good 400 metres in altitude; the cableway is included in the march time and altitude calculation.
Behind the Restauant Alpgschwänd the path climbs through the forest and then steadily uphill towards the chapel on the "Klimsensattel". The red large cabins float above us to the Pilatus Kulm. Next to the newly renovated chapel stood the elegantly furnished Hotel Klimsenhorn until the middle of the last century, built thirty years before the cogwheel railway to Pilatus. In many zigzags we reach the Pilatus Circular Path and through the "Chriesiloch" we head for the summit. The return trip with the cogwheel railway to Alpnachstad is a delight.
