The Langis at the Glaubenberg pass is a cross-country skiing paradise and an insider's tip for nature lovers: the trail to Fröschenseeli leads through protected high moor terrain surrounded by pine forests. In former times, the area was a dignified and widely known spa resort.
The Langis, the natural sunny region above Lake Sarnen, is a paradise for cross-country skiers. Located right at the top of the Glaubenberg Pass (alt. 1543 m) on the Obwalden side, the Langis boasts the longest contiguous network of cross-country ski circuits in Central Switzerland. Even Boris Becker has done several laps here.

Skiers can reach the start of the circuits from the car park about 300 metres away. The first half of the Fröschenseeli circuit is on rather flat, lightly wooded terrain past the Andresen hut to Schwendi-Kaltbad, a former spa resort. Via Schlierentalhütte you reach the turning point at Fröschenseeli, which is somewhat hidden in the high moor. The birch trees, mountain pines and frozen moor lake call to mind scenery in the far north. Glistening blankets of snow lie on heather and moss cushions. The Titlis, Hochstollen and Wetterhörner dominate the mountain range.

The way back is on the other side of the valley through wooded terrain, again to Schwendi-Kaltbad. The Mother of God Chapel is located directly on the circuit. It is a reminder of the "cold bath in the Schwendi". After an iron spring was tapped there in 1642, a renowned hotel featuring mud and sulphur baths was built. However, this burnt down in 1970. An outbuilding of the former spa complex was converted into a restaurant in the style of a Canadian log cabin. After pausing there for refreshments, it is about two kilometres back to the starting point.
