The Giswilerstock is at the centre of this circular hike. The Bärgmandli Trail takes you around this huge limestone massif, leading from alp to alp via ancient connecting tracks.
This round hike abounds in views and insights: the Hasli valley to the south and the Bernese Alps with the Wetterhorn group behind it, the Marien valley with the imposing Schrattenfluh to the west, the high moorland Alps flanked by the Pilatus to the north and finally the delightful Sarneraa valley to the east. In between, alp restaurants offer wholesome local food. Fit walkers will find the short detour to the summit cross of the Giswilerstock well worth the effort.

The area is rich in legends about the Bärgmandli dwarf and other stories. These, the interesting geology and the flora and fauna of the area are described in the Bärgmandli Trail brochure. Large parts of the trail lead through a wildlife protection zone where hunting is prohibited. Chamois, roe and red deer and golden eagles can be spotted here. During spring, this round hike offers a magnificent cross-section of the glorious alpine flora.
