With the introduction of the new Tourism Act on January 1, 2013, the collection of visitor's tax has become obsolete for landlords. For internal statistical purposes, however, Obwalden Tourism is still dependent on recording overnight stays in hotels and parahotels. The accommodation statistics are an important tool for us. On the one hand, it gives us an insight into the needs and booking behavior of our guests and, on the other, allows us to make a rough assessment of the market. With your information, you actively help us to target our marketing measures and meet the needs of our mutual guests.

In Swiss tourism, vacation apartments are an attractive addition to the hotel industry. The official Swiss vacation apartment and guest room classification is managed by the Swiss Tourism Federation (STV). There are currently around 23,000 properties classified with one to a maximum of five stars superior. The quality is regularly checked by means of spot checks.
A classification system has been created for vacation apartments, guest rooms and bed and breakfasts. A specified number of points must be achieved in each category and the general minimum requirements must be met.

Would you also like to have your vacation apartment or guest room classified? Then proceed as follows:
The classification is valid for four years from the date of classification. The cost for four years is CHF 50. Obwalden Tourism covers the costs for the first four years, provided that the booking can be made via the e-domizil reservation system.
Registration is possible at any time. The classification procedure usually takes two to four weeks.
