The Fürstein on the border between Cantons Obwalden and Lucerne is a well-known panoramic mountain and destination of scenic hikes in summer and winter.
From the Langis car park, the road to the Glaubenberg pass, which is traffic-free in winter, serves as an ideal access route. This demanding snowshoe tour begins on the left or right of the Rotbach just behind the little restautant at the pass summit in the scattered forest: first briskly up to Alp Rick and from there up the steep summit slope to the cross on the Rickhubel. From there, the trail traces a wide curve on a plateau to the north-east ridge of the Fürstein, which is reached via a short steep flank. The distant views of the alps and as far as the Jura are fantastic. After a short descent of the ridge southwards, a snowy little valley leads to Ober Sewen and the chapel and past the Sewenseeli lake to the saddle between the Sewenegg and Trogenegg. The route is varied on easy slopes and through scattered pine forest back via Schnabel to Langis.

Shortened variant without Fürstein

If you do not want to climb all the way to the Fürstein, you can turn left on the plateau and descend directly to Ober Sewen and its chapel.
