Bärghuis Schönbüel

This traditional, spacious chalet-style inn on a sunny terrace at alt. 2008 high above Lungern and the Hasli valley boasts superb views, including a unique vista ranging from the Niesen all the way to the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps and the Säntis.

Following its painstaking renovation, the Bärghuis Schönbüel was awakened to new life and a new purpose. The lovingly and individually furnished rooms (offering 27 beds in total) create a cosy atmosphere. The Bärghuis also benefits from a lounge with a wood-burning stove and unique panoramic views – perfect for winding down and relaxing – as well as a refurbished viewing terrace with 48 seats.

Schönbüel is popular with walkers coming from Brienz or Sörenberg via the Brienzer Rothorn, from Giswil via the Flounalp, from the Pilatus via Langis or from the Brünig via the Wilerhorn. Summer and winter, it's an oasis of peace that attracts hikers, mountain bikers, snowshoe trekkers and ski tourers.

Take the Lungern-Turren aerial cableway from Lungern Obsee to Turren. It's then a 90-minute walk to the Bärghuis Schönbüel along the road or waymarked footpath.
